Diana Cecilia Harman Brewer of Jefferson City died January 26, 2025 She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecilia R. Harman and Richard H. R. Harman, and her brother, John Roberts. Born February 2, 1943, in war-swept Northampton, England, Diana grew up in the village of Yardley Hastings. In school she was recognized for her athletic prowess, particularly at netball (basketball), track, long jump and high jump. Upon graduation, she worked in the administrative offices of United Counties bus service Diana emigrated to America in order to care for her terminally ill aunt. The skills she honed during that time would later benefit residents of Lifecare Center and Chandler House Assisted Living, both of Jefferson City, Tennessee, where she practiced her chosen vocation for a combined total of 19 years. Her particular gifts were unfailing kindness, graciousness and patience. Generosity was her strength; abiding faith was her armor. Diana was a master knitter. She asserted that one could never own too many skeins of wool, and each member of her immediate family has an intricately patterned sweater that continues to wrap them in the warmth of her love. Her artistry was further exhibited through her paintings and drawings, delicate creations in acrylics or watercolors that sometimes filled a canvas and other times were as small as a handmade birthday card. Carrying on Diana’s legacy are daughters, Odette Shults (Bill) and Richenda Maples (Scott); grandchildren, Nicholas Morgan-Maples (Rachel) and Katy Maples-Posey (Darren); great-grandchildren, Caleb, Emily, and Hadleigh Morgan-Maples, and Aspen Posey; sister-in- law, Joy Roberts; nephew, Andrew Roberts (Sam); niece, Kathryn Roberts; and many beloved cousins. Although, per Diana’s wishes, there will be no local memorial service, friends may share memories in a memorial book at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City Diana’s cremains will be accompanied back to her home, Yardley Hastings, England, where the bells of St. Andrew’s Church will herald her return and she will make one last procession through the village before being interred alongside her parents in the churchyard. Those who wish to honor her life and friendship may make memorial contributions to Companion Animal Rescue & Education (C.A.R.E.), 310 Landfill Road, Jefferson City, TN 37760, her nonprofit of choice, or one of your own choosing.
