DEWEY BRYAN WHITTIER, age 76, of Dandridge, TN, born in Knoxville, TN on October 3, 1929, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2006, surrounded by his family at home due to a lengthy illness. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of Dandridge for 15 years, where he was a deacon, royal Ambassador Director and member of the Sanctuary Choir. Prior to that, he was a deacon and youth director of Athens Baptist Church in California. Preceded in death by his parents, Luther Thomas and Ina Pauline Franklin Whittier; daughter, Shelia Whittier Krieps; sisters, Margie Tipton and Joann Ellison. Survived by wife of 55 years, Irene Whittier; daughters, Belinda Orren and Joyce Jackson; son-in-law, Kim Orren; grandchialdren, Kelly Orren Burnett, Katie Orren Schmidt, Casey Jackson, Kevin Jackson and Christy Jackson; great grandchildren, Alex Schmidt and Charlie Schmidt. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2006 at First Baptist Church in Dandridge with Dr. Robert McCray officiating. Entombment services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2006 in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
