A loving husband and father, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Jefferson City and a 1977 graduate of Carson-Newman College. He was a master carpenter and voracious reader. Preceded in death by his father, Dr. Wade E. Darby, former pastor of First Baptist Church of Jefferson City. Survived by his loving wife, Laura Darby of Jefferson City and son, Patrick of Jefferson City; mother, Mary Ella Darby of Jefferson City; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Daniel and Victoria Darby of Virginia Beach, VA, Dr. Dewayne and Mary Ellen Darby of Jefferson City, Rodney and Cindy Darby of Decatur, Alabama; several special nieces, nephews and their spouses; mother-in-law, Cecile Goldthorn of Charlotte, NC; sisters-in-law and their families, Susanne Eselgroth of Chattanooga, TN and Clare Ferguson of Charlotte, NC ; uncle, Ratliff Paschall of Como, TN and aunt, Viva Ellis of Murray, KY. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2005 at the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City with Dr. Gene Wilder officiating. Interment to follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the church. The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
