Dena Burchell Shelton

Dena Burchell Shelton, of New Market, passed away on her 79th birthday on Friday, November 8, 2002. She was born in Grainger County, TN and had lived her entire adult life as a homemaker and farm wife in New Market. She was of the Baptist faith. Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. John Burchell of New Market. She was preceded in death by brothers, Luther, Ed and Fred Burchell; and sisters, Ruby Watts, Hazel Phillips and Pearl McGhee. She is survived by her husband, Weyer J. Shelton of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnne and James Medlin of Kingsport, Mary Rose and Jim Mason of New Market; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Sharon Shelton; son, Bobby Shelton, all of New Market; sisters, Alice Morrell of Morristown, Gladys Tolliver and Betty Boley, both of New Market, Flora Burchell of Jefferson City; brother, Ray Burchell of New Market; grandchildren, Scott, Matthew and Jonathan Shelton, Jenna Mason, Mark and Will Medlin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday evening, November 10, 2002 from the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Jefferson City. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2002 for an 11 a.m. gravesideinterment service at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
