Dean "Shorty" Pierce

Dean “Shorty” Pierce, age 91, passed away on October 31, 2014 at Tri-State Rehab Center in Harrogate, TN. Dean was born September 5, 1923 in Hawkins County, TN to the late Jennie Watkins and A. Hampton Pierce. Dean was a World War II veteran, a 50 year member of the Powell Masonic Lodge, and a retiree of Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He was married to Wynona Christine Gordon for 57 years, until she passed away in 2002. He was also preceded in death by his brother, William T. Pierce. He is survived by his sons, Mike Pierce and Art Lockett (Anna Lou); daughter, Sandra Thomas (Andy); sister, Mrs. Doris June Hickman (Robert); grandchildren, Josh Bentley (Lacey), Artie Lockett, Tammie Leigh (Rob); several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family member, and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Farrar Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m graveside funeral service with Dr. Larry Parrott officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1464 Lakeshore Rd., Talbott, TN 37877.
