David L. Voiles

DAVID L. VOILES, age 68, of White Pine, TN passed away Monday evening, January 30, 2012 at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital following a brief illness. He was the son of the late Lonnie and Anna Belle Cupp Voiles and was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Voiles, Helen Paxton; brother, Buster Voiles. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army ,having served in Korea as a military police. Member of the First United Methodist Church of White Pine. David was active in his community for many years by serving as alderman for the Town of White Pine and served Jefferson Co. as a member of the E-911 Board and the Animal Control Oversite Board. He also enjoyed being involved with children?s recreation and was co-founder of White Pine Junior Pro Basketball. David retired from the town of White Pine as Codes Enforcer and later worked in the Facilities Dept. for Jefferson Co. He is survived by beloved spouse, Carolyn Churchwell Voiles; sons, Christopher Voiles of White Pine and Michael Voiles and wife Laura; and grandchildren, Josh Arwood, Brett, and Bryce Voiles all of Greeneville; sister, Evelyn Hybarger and husband Wayne of Moshiem; sister-in-law, Louise Voiles (Max) Woody, who along with her first husband, Buster were instrumental in the raising of David. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to White Pine First United Methodist Church or the White Pine Interchurch Council, % Ginger Marshall, P.O. Box 146, White Pine, TN 37890, or charity of choice. Funeral service will be Thursday, February 2, 2012, 7:30pm at the First United Methodist Church of White Pine. Members of the White Pine Police Dept. will serve as honorary pallbearers. Family and friends will meet Friday 10:15am at Hillcrest Cemetery, Dandridge for graveside interment services with military honors.
