Broadway Blvd. Jefferson City, TN 37760 Phone (865) 475-3892 Fax (865) 475-9916 OBITUARY: David Roy (Bud) Cook age 48, a lifelong resident of Strawberry Plains, passed away suddenly Saturday, January 8, 2005 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He was well known for his humor, love of music, nature, family, and love for his Savior Christ Jesus. A professional storyteller himself, he was past president of the Smoky Mountain Storytelling Association and was the resident storyteller at the Great Smoky Mountain Institute at Tremont in Townsend, Tennessee. He had been a performer at the International Storytelling Convention in Jonesboro, Tennessee and was an accomplished musician who performed for many years with several well known professionals throughout the region. He worked in the Jefferson County School System for many years as a teaching assistant in the area of special education until his health prevented him from continuing this work which he so loved. He was a very special friend to many who cherish the memories of a man of high morals and values. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Estell Cook and Roberta (Bertie) Brooks Cook. He is survived by his wife, Nora Cook; son, Ben Cook, Captain, USAF, Lakenheath, England; daughter, Wendi Cook, a senior education major at MTSU, Murfreesboro, TN; step-daughters, Cassandra Adkins and Ashley Adkins, both living at home; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cheryl and Larry Burchamof Sevierville, TN, Cathy and Charlie Dalton of Knoxville, TN; nephew, Barrett Burcham; and niece, Holly Burcham Deskins; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Betty Dyer of Mohawk, TN; brothers-in-law and wives, James Dyer and Lisa of Greenville, TN, Rodney Dyer and Sandy of Mohawk, TN. Funeral services will be held at 8:00p.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2005 from the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Reverend Larry Burcham officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at Strawberry Plains Cemetery for an 11 a.m. graveside interment service.The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral services.
