Darlene (Belva Darlene) Hickman

(Belva) Darlene Hickman left this world on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, to meet her Savior and family she so loved and missed.

Darlene was born to Alvin and Edith (Dalton) King on August 12, 1946, in Knoxville, TN. She is preceded in death by her parents; all four siblings: Bill, Sharon (Hixon), Saundra (Mellon), and Harold; and most recently her beloved son, James Ernest Hickman, Jr. on March 6, 2024. She is survived by brother-in-law, Bill Mellon, niece, Krista Hixon (Geoff) Marshall, great-nephew David Marshall, nephew Shawn Ferguson and great-niece Lauren Ferguson, niece Meredith (Jon) Bogott and special cousins, Shelia French and Shannon Elaine (Mike) Graham.

Darlene loved her family, puppies, her apartment-complex friends, and all things Orange! You could talk to her anytime, except when the vols were playing! Darlene loved church and music; while in most recent years, she was unable to get out on her own, she “attended” church with Shelia at Central Heights Baptist Church in Dandridge. She faithfully watched every service and talked to Shelia about it in one of their daily phone talks or texts. Darlene had planned to attend in person once she was able to do so. God had different plans; on the morning of February 18, 2025, He ushered her from this world and her earthly body into His glorious presence. As she closed her eyes in death here, she saw her savior Jesus Christ who had given her the promise of salvation and eternal life.

As she didn’t get to attend Central Heights in person, a service will be held there in her honor. A celebration of her life will include singing praises to God there as Darlene is raising her voice in praise to Him in person, along with a multitude who have gone before her. Visitation hours will be Thursday, February 27th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, with a celebration service following at 6:00 pm.

Visitation and service will be held at Central Heights Baptist Church, 108 E. Price Rd. in Dandridge, TN. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Farrar Funeral Home of Dandridge is honored to serve the family.
