He was a long time employee of Appalachian Electric Cooperataive and attended Green Hill Baptist Church. He was a Jefferson County Commissioner for 20 years. Preceded in death by parents, Joe and Mildred Lockhart Cox; brother, David Lynn Cox. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Cox; children, Hilary Cox and Vincent Cox; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Esta Mae Cox; sister-in-law, Martha Cox; nephews, Ronnie Cox and Matthew Cox; niece, Melinda Lauderdale and husband, Jesse. Funeral service will be held 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2007 from the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Reverend Len McElyea and Reverend David Cross officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon and from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday evening. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday morning at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service.
