Cressie A. (Mamaw) Fox Smith

Cressie A. (Mamaw) Fox Smith, born February 24, 1914, passed away February 28, 2012 at Mountain View Manor Nursing Center in Bryson City, NC. Preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Arlie V. Smith; parents, James and Alice Fox; 12 siblings and son-in-law, Bill Holloway. Survived by three children, Ron (Wilma) Smith, Sheila (Bud) Young and Jackie Holloway; grandchildren, Whitney (Olga) Woods, Lisa (Shannon) Snyder, Kimberly Akers, Karen (Phil) Henderson, and Ronald (Marissa) Smith; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. Cressie was a loving mother and grandmother with her children always coming first. She was a business woman as she and her husband was owners of The Western Auto Store from 1947 to 1976. Special thanks to all the staff at Mountain View Manor Nursing Center for their care and love they gave to our mother. Funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Leadvale Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Osborne officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2012 at White Pine Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service.
