LT. COL. ROBERT WILLIAM PEDERSEN, (U. S. Army, Ret.) age 99, of Dandridge, TN passed away August 17, 2008. He was born in Chicago, IL on November 6, 1909. As a young man, he moved to Bartow, FL and graduated from the University of Florida and received a Master's Degree from the University of Tennessee. He served in the U. S. Army for 30 years, then retired to Dandridge, where he taught school in Jefferson County and was also a principal in the school system. He built and operated Douglas Lake Campground. In retirement, he was a member of SCORE, Retired Officers, University of Tennessee Presidents Club, and Carson Newman Steeple Society. A member of First Baptist Church of Dandridge, he was active in the Fellowship Sunday School class. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jessica Swann Rankin. Survived by current wife, Hannah Hylton Pederson. Funeral service will be Tuesday, August 19, 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Dandridge with Dr. Robert McCray officiating. Interment to follow at French Broad Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Missions Fund, P. O. Box 246, Dandridge, TN 37725.
