CLYDE WILLIS COX, age 80, of Jefferson City, TN went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Community Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a trustee for 20 years. He retired from the United States Army with 20 years of service, and also retired from U. S. Steel with 24 years of service. He was a wonderful Christian and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He showed himself friendly and was a friend to all. Preceded in death by parents, Robert and Margaret Cox; five brothers and three sisters; several nieces and nephews. Survived by loving wife of 31 years, Betty Jean Cox; son, Steven Cox of Morristown; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Gary Norton of Chuckey, TN; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Sylvia C. Bales of Dandridge; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2009 from the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Reverend Dennis Caldwell, Reverend Lynn Nease and Reverend Gary Norton officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Family and friends will gather at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday morning, February 11, 2009 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for a 10:00 a.m. graveside interment service with military honors by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard.
