Clyce E. Thompson, age 99 of Dandridge, TN passed away Monday, January 20, 2003 at the Jefferson Co. Nursing Home following an extended illness. He was born September 18, 1903 in Rushville, IL to Jefferson and Myra Oneal Thompson. Preceded in death by his wife, Emogene Megginson Thompson; sisters, Bess Reed, Laura Tramine, Mamye Babatz and brother, Wynn Thompson. Clyde was a retired rural letter carrier after 42 years of service for the Postal Service in the state of Texas and he began his career delivering the mail on horseback. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church of Dickenson, TX, where he served as Lay reader and served on a variety of committees for many years. Veteran of World War II and the Army Air Corp and was a member of the national Assoc of Retired Federal Employees and the Texas Rural Letter Carrier Assoc. He is survived by his son and daughter in law, John and Donna Thompson of Dandridge; grandchildren, Pam and husband Danny Ray and Shannon and husband Todd Hoster; great grandchild, Lea' Hoster; several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to your church of favorite charitable organization. Memorial services to celebrate the life of Clyde E. Thompson will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan 25, 2003 at the Dandridge First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Moore officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, Jan. 25 from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to services at the church.
