FARRAR FUNERAL HOME, JEFFERSON CITY
Clyde Edward “Eddie” Woods, 76, passed away suddenly in Morristown on Friday, January 26. Born in Kingsport, he was the son of Homer Clay and Dorothy Martha Woods. The family would soon move to White Pine, where he would attend White Pine School for 12 years before graduating in 1965. He then would attend Carson-Newman College and briefly work at the American Enka Corporation before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1968, where he would serve as a personnel specialist until his discharge in 1971. After returning home, he would return to Enka until beginning a career with the State of Tennessee’s Weights and Measures Division until his retirement. He is a member of Edwards Chapel In The Pines Independent Church. Eddie would be elected as Mayor of White Pine in 1977. Following his tenure as mayor, he would stay heavily involved in Jefferson County and White Pine boards and committees up until the present time. He has long held an interest in the history and progress of his town. Eddie was preceded In death by his parents and his wife, Marilyn Ann (Baxter) Woods. He is survived by his beloved daughter Diane (William) Farr, granddaughters Baylee and Sierra, brother-in-law Steve (Deanne) Baxter, niece Jessie Baxter and nephew Matthew Baxter plus nieces Mitzi (Rick) Stinson and Robin (Trent) Frazier. A popular face in White Pine, Eddie leaves behind more close friends and extended family than can ever be listed.
The family has request that In Lieu of Flowers Memorial Donation be made to: St Jude's Children's Hospital or the Shriner's Children' Hospital.
Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City will be in charge of arrangements with a Celebration of Eddie’s Life being held at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 30 from 4 to 7pm with the funeral service by Reverends Mike Hensley and Charles Mills following. His entombment with military honors will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Dandridge at 10am Wednesday, January 31, 2024.
