CLAUDE H. WERNTZ, age 87 of Dandridge, TN, formerly of Coatesville, PA passed away Friday morning, Dec. 17, 2004. He was born July 1, 1917 in Paradise, PA, the son of Harry Claude and Maude Hershey Werntz. Claude was a 1936 graduate of Coatesville High School. He was owner and operator of the trucking division for the Producers Cooperative Exchange from 1940 to 1981. He was an active member of the Forks of the Brandywine Presbyterian Church, where he served as elder for over 50 years and also as trustee. A 32nd degree Mason, he was a member of the Coatesville Lodge # 564 F & AM, the Scottish-Rite, Reading Consistory and was a Shriner, belonging to the Rajah Temple of Reading, PA. He is survived by his wife, Sara V. Ranck Werntz of Dandridge, TN' daughter and son in law, Susan and John Lord of Dandridge, TN; grandchildren, Barry A. Gastrock, Jr. of Nebraska and Kurt C. Gastrock of Virginia; step grandsons, Stephen G. Lord of Maryland and Timothy A. Lord of Texas; step granddaughter, Nancy C. Lord of Florida; great grandson, Jason K. Gastrock; great granddaughters, Sheena Y. Gastrock, Tanya P. Gastrock, Erin A. Gastrock and Abbey Gastrock; many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Forks of the Brandywine Presbyterian Church, 1648 Horseshoe Pike, Glenmoore, PA 19343. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, December 22, 2004 from 5 until 7:30 p.m. at the James W. Wilde & Son Funeral Home, 434 W. Main Street, Parkesburg, PA, followed by a Masonic Service to be held at 7:30. Funeral serivces will be Thursday, December 23, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Forks of the Brandywine Presbyterian Church. The body will be moved to the church to lie in state from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the serivce. Burial will follow in the Paradise Mennonite Cemetery.
