Claude Hanford Matthews

Claude Hanford Matthews, of White Pine, TN, a wonderful father and a beloved husband, born on September 25, 1936 went home to be with his Lord and Savior while surrounded by his family and friends on January 23, 2011 at Morristown Hamblen Healthcare Systems. Claude was a retired truck driver from Roadway. He was preceded in death by sister, Wanda Davis; brothers, Ray and Hassel Matthews. He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Matthews, and eight children; Chad Gordon of New Castle, IN, Tony Matthews of Jefferson City, Tammy Matthews Dodson of St. Paul, IN, Lonnie Matthews of St. Paul, IN, Ronnie Matthews of Indianapolis, IN, Donnie ?DJ? Matthews of St. Paul, IN, Jessie Matthews and Claudine Matthews Garcia, both of White Pine, 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Matthews Garrett of Muncy, IN, Hazel Matthews Kerly of Crossville, TN; his very special brothers-in-law, Jesse and Johnny Stephens of Columbus, IN and Billy Joe Davis of Harvest, AL; also several nieces, nephews, special friends and other family members. Funeral service will be on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 1:00pm at Pentecostal Old Fashioned Church of God in White Pine with the Rev. Eugene Hollifield and Rev. Roger Phillips officiating. Graveside interment will follow in Balch Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at the funeral home from 5-7:00pm.
