Clarence "C.H." Herbert Cates

CLARENCE HERBERT “C.H.” CATES, age 85, of the Dumplin Community in Dandridge, TN passed away at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Jefferson County Nursing Home following a brief illness. He was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. Preceded in death by his parents, Tilmon and Pearl Cates; and eleven brothers and sisters. Survived by loving wife of 25 years, Charlotte Cates; sons, Swayne, Michael, Victor, Marvin, Jerry Ray and Christopher; daughter, Sally Shankles; step-daughters, Leia and Maranda; twenty-three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Jane, Nancy, Ruth and Betty; brother, Kenny Wayne Cate. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2015 at Farrar Funeral Home with Rev. Sonny Shankles officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at Cate Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service.
