Charlie V. Huffaker, age 87 of New Market, TN passed away on Monday, March 17, 2003 at his residence after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church for over 50 years, serving in the capacity of deacon, Sunday School teacher and treasurer. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the US Army, and was a miner with U>S. Steel for 29 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Annabelle Huffaker and son, John Edward Huffaker. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Mary Huffaker; son and daughter in law, Bob and Jeanette Huffaker; daughter and son in law, Alma and Riley Cox; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Pauline Norton; sister in law, Lillie Ausmus; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, march 19, 2003 from the New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Glenn Beeler and Rev. Charles Courtney officiating. Family and friends will met at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2003 at the funeral home to proceed to Jefferson memorial Gardens for a 10:30 a.m. graveside interment service. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. on Wednesdat prior to services at the church.
