Charles (Sonny) Samuel Bennecker

CHARLES (SONNY) SAMUEL BENNECKER, age 78, of Knoxville formerly of Dandridge, TN passed away peacefully with friends and family by his side Friday evening, October 2, 2015 at Continuum Courtyards. Sonny is at peace after a lengthy battle with cancer and dementia. Sonny is a 1954 graduate of Powell High School and attended the University of Tennessee. Sonny served his country in the United States Air Force and went on to work for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, OH where he retired after 40 years. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, member of the Scottish Rite Bodies and was past Master of Brazelton Lodge #190 F. & AM in Dandridge, TN. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Continuum Courtyards at Inskip and the extraordinary team of aides and all personal sitters who took care of him during his final days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Joyce (Tibbs) Bennecker; his beloved wife, Rose Marie Bennecker; and brother, Jerry Bennecker. He is survived by his sister, Brenda B. Gaylor, sister-in-law, Pat Bennecker; nieces, Joy (Scott) Bennecker, Robyn (Karl) Ackerman, Jeanne (Mike) Bruno, Judy (Pete) Walton, Mary Beth (Charles) Tipton; nephews, Bobby (Penny) Cross, Danny (Yvonne) Davenport, David Davenport, David (Amy) Lett and Eric (Sarah) Bennecker; several great nieces, nephews, and cousins; special friend, Fran Sullenger of Dandridge, TN, and special companion, Zoey. Graveside funeral services with Military and Masonic Honors will be held Tuesday, October, 6, 2015 at 1:00pm at Hillcrest Cemetery in Dandridge. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel in Knoxville and friends may call Tuesday from 9:00am to 12:00 at FARRAR FUNERAL HOME, DANDRIDGE
