Charles A. Selby

CHARLES A. SELBY, age 94, of Dallas, TX and formerly of Knoxville and Dandridge, TN, passed away Friday, March 27, 2009. Following a fulfilled long life with his family and friends, he has gone on to Glory to be with his heavenly father. He was born December 4, 1914 in Knoxville, TN, the son of the late Walter A. and Flora King Selby and was preceded in death by brothers, Ed Selby and Re Selby; sister, Dennie Selby. Charles was a retired dispatcher for the Knoxville Utilities Board (KUB) following many years of service and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dandridge. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Hazel Lewis Selby; daughter, Gail S. Humphries of Dallas, TX; sons, David L. Selby and wife, Pat of Birmingham, AL, Tom Selby and wife, Cathy of Heath Row, FL; grandchildren, Richard Grant, Lynne Fletchall, Amy Schrieber, David Selby, Charles Selby, Stephen Selby and Susan Selby; eight great-grandchildren;sister-in-law, Gloria Selby of Dandridge; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating the life of Charles A. Selby will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Dandridge with Dr. Robert McCray officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Private interment service were held at Woodlawn Cemetery.
