Hobbs was happiest behind the pulpit of churches throughout East Tennessee, serving in the Ministry for 60 years. In addition, his love of literature and writing led him to pursue a M.A. degree from University of Tennessee. Mr. Hobbs served on the faculty of Carson-Newman College for over 25 years in the English department where he was beloved by many faculty and students. He was a great orator and used this gift in both his sermons and classroom lectures. Rev. Hobbs was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Betty Lee King Hobbs and his son, David Alan Hobbs.
