"FESSOR" JONES, JR., passed away on December 25, 2007 in Jefferson City, TN to be with the Lord. Mr. Charles H. Jones was born in Williamsburg, KY. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Jefferson City, TN and a member of the Chancel Choir. Mr. Jones was a longtime member of the Knoxville Choral Society in Knoxville, TN and was a charter member of the Jefferson City Kiwanis Club. He graduated from Cumberland College in Williamsburg, KY, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and the University of Cincinnati. Additional graduate work was done at Eastman School of music in Rochester, NY and Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. Mr. Jones was a member of Phi Alpha Sinfonia music fraternity, Pi Kappa Lambda honor fraternity and a life member of American Choral Directors Association and National Association Teachers of Singing. Mr. Jones was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He served four years in World War II and was later recalled to the Korean War for two years. Mr. Jones was a member of the music department at Martin College, Salem, West Virginia and served thirty-eight years at Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, TN. While at Carson Newman College he taught voice, piano, music theory, and directed the A Cappella Choir. This is where he became known affectionately as "Fessor" by his students. He leaves his wife, Dorothy Ann Jones of Jefferson City, TN; his son, Michael Todd Jones and his wife, Joanna Malone Jones with granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth Jones; sister, Louise Baker of Morristown, TN; a number of nieces, nephews and in laws that he leaves behind. Receiving of friends will be from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Thursday evening, December 27, 2007 at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday morning, December 28, 2007 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens with Dr. Gene Wilder officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Charles H.
