Charles Raymond Doughty, age 84, of Jefferson City, TN passed away January 1, 2011 at Jefferson County Nursing Home after a 15 year battle with Alzheimer?s. He was a veteran of WW II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was retired from Magnavox Corp. with 35 years of service where he was a Quality Control Manager and Assistant Plant Manager. He was also Owner and operator of Doughty?s Foot Wear for many years. He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Nelda Doughty; daughter, Cindy Doughty; mother and father, Mary Elsie and Ernest R. Doughty; brother, Nelson Doughty, mother-inlLaw, Clara Cureton; father-in-law and wife, William T. and Carrie McKinney; and son-in-law, Dan Hickey. He is survived by his son, Steve (Brenda) Doughty; daughters, Doris (Donny) Patterson, Marilyn Jones, Gloria (Larry) Lambdin, and Terri Hickey Doughty; grandchildren, Robbie Jones, Aimee Davis, Kristi Gives, Mike McGlamery, Ashley and Holli Doughty; great grandchildren, Morgan and Macee Ridenour, Avery Davis, Mikey McGlamery, Emma and Patrick Gives and Weston Baxley; sister, Ida Mae Ferguson of Dade City, FL; brother, Jimmy Doughty of Sellersburg, IN; several nieces and nephews. Memorial funeral service will be held 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011 from Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend James Dampier officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral services. Charles believed that he could make a difference in the lives of others by donating his body to science for research. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to ALPS at 600 N. Daisy Street, Morristown, TN 37814 or to the Alzheimer?s Association at Alz.org. The family would like to thank his ?Special? caregivers at Jefferson County Nursing Home and ALPS Adult Day Care for their love and care for him during his illness.
