She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Jefferson Ridgway; her father, Dr. Joel Walker Cowan; her mother, Ellen Owens Cowan; and her brothers, Benjamin Cowan and Charles Cowan. Catherine was a life long member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church, where she attended Sunday School and belonged to the Women?s Missionary Society. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and they visited every state. Catherine was born in Dandridge on July 17, 1906 in what is now Dandridge Town Hall. Her father?s doctor?s office was in the Dandridge Visitors Center Building next door. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, with Reverend Mark Knisley officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Hopewell Cemetery.
