Carl Brian Sehmer, 70, resident of Dandridge, TN, formerly of Rochester, MI, passed away on June 2, 2016. He was born on June 9, 1946 in Chicago, IL. Carl grew up in Milwaukee, WI, where he graduated from Shorewood High School.
He served in the United States Army, 25 TH Infantry Division ‘Tropic Lightning’, earning him the Bronze Star Medal, meritorious, in support of military operations against hostile forces in the Republic of Vietnam.
Carl attended Milwaukee School of Engineering where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was presented the Fred F. Loocke Outstanding Student Award, selected by the faculty.
Carl continued his involvement with the Department of Defense throughout his professional career working for Honeywell, Alliant Techsystems, General Dynamics and eventually starting his own business as a military contract engineering representative.
He was a member of the Dandridge Senior Center, for which he served as Vice President from 2015 – 2016. Carl was an avid golfer and an accomplished woodcrafter.
He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Eileen Sehmer. Carl is survived by his spouse, Mary, of Dandridge, TN and his two daughters, Melissa (Marro) of St. Augustine, FL and Amanda of Ferndale, MI.
Visitation will be held at Farrar Funeral Home, 162 E Meeting St, Dandridge, TN 37725 on Monday, June 6th from 3:00 – 4:30, followed by a memorial service at the Dandridge Senior Center, 917 Elliott Ferry Rd, Dandridge, TN 37725 starting at 5:00, with Military Honors given by VFW Post #5266. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Dandridge Senior Center 917 Elliot Ferry Rd. Dandridge, TN 37725
