MCKAY, age 91, of Jefferson City, TN, formerly of Knoxville, TN, died Saturday evening, April 1, 2006 at his home following a brief illness. He had been a resident of Chandler House since 2001. Born August 24, 1914 in Rockingham, NC, he moved to Tennessee in 1944. After working in Oak Ridge during the World War II era, Mr. McKay was employed by TVA, Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., and in the security division of the Knoxville Police Dept. He also served as Minister of Music for several churches including First Baptist Church of Rockwood, First Baptist Church of Rogersville and Inskip Baptist Church of Knoxville. A member of the First Baptist Church of Dandridge since 1997, he had served as deacon at the Arlington Baptist Church in Knoxville and Broadway Baptist Church in Knoxville. He was married to Mary Parker McKay for 71 years before her death in 2003; and a young child, Samuel Lynnwood McKay preceded them. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Rebekah and Dr. Robert McCray of Dandridge and Janice and Charles Weinberg of Jefferson City; granddaughters, Angela and her husband, Jeffery Bowlin of Dandridge and Elizabeth Weinberg of San Francisco, CA; grandsons, James and wife, Christy Kautz of Acworth, GA, John and wife, Terry Kautz of Charleston, SC and Chas Weinberg of Asheville, NC; great-grandchildren, Brad and Leslie Bowlin, Evan, Connor and Alyssa Kautz; brother, Marion L. McKay of Macon, GA; sister, Anne Maness of Rock Hill, SC; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at the First Baptist Church of Dandridge with Dr. Robert McCray officiating. Graveside interment services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
