Boyd B. Clendenin

Boyd Baxter Clendenin, 85, of White Pine, passed away in his home on September 30, 2023.  He was born in Kimberly, West Virginia, raised in Winifrede and in the Charleston area.  He began working in finance after High School in South Charleston, West Virginia.  He married the love of his life,  Rose Ellen Coen August 13, 1962.  

For the next 40 years, he continued in various business roles until he bought his own business: Lamplighter Mobile Home Park and Sales in White Pine, Tennessee.  For the next 30 years he helped many acquire, settle into, and repair their homes. He, simultaneously, was a caretaker for members of his family in failing health until their deaths. First,  his father for many years. Next, both of Rose’s parents. Then his brother, Richard.  When he sold Lamplighter, Boyd became known in the community as “the guy to call when you need help.”  This was because of his expertise in repair and problem solving and his willingness to help others.

In addition to enjoying his work, Boyd enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, boating, and fishing.  He was also the “fun” uncle for his many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Paul Clendenin Senior, his mother, Ina Hannah (Coleman) Clendenin, four brothers, and four sisters.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rose Ellen (Coen) Clendenin, and his son, Steven Boyd Clendenin.  He is also survived by his sisters, Libby Galt of Louisville, KY and Lillian Grady, of Buffalo, WV.

Memorial Service:  Monday, October 9 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Farrar Funeral Home, White Pine, with nephew, Paul E Clendenin of Alachua, Florida officiating. Family will be receiving friends and family prior – beginning at  10:00 a.m.
