Bobby G. Shands

BOBBY G. SHANDS, age 78, of Morristown, TN passed away at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Select Specialty Hospital in Knoxville. He attended First United Methodist Church in Morristown. He was a member of the Genealogical Society and Historical Society and was a volunteer with the archives in Dandridge. He was a retired veteran with 30 years of service in the U. S. Army and U. S. Army Reserves. He was a very loving and proud husband, father, grandfather and a dear friend to all who knew him. Preceded in death by parents, A. D. and Opal Shands; brothers, Butch and Jerry Shands; sister-in-law, Sue Shands; brother-in-law, Jim Denton. Survived by loving wife of 38 years, Joyce Hodgson Shands; children, Tim (Debbie Siemon) Shands of Atlanta, GA, Joe (Donna) Shands of Austin, TX, Danny Hull of Phoenix, AZ, David Hull of Morristown, TN and Dianne Hull of Jefferson City, TN; grandchild, Porter Shands; brothers, Bill (Patsy) Shands of Jefferson City, Jackie Shands of Jefferson City, Ronnie (Elaine) Shands of Jefferson City; sister, Joelene Denton of Jefferson City; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010 from the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Rev. Don Dillingham and Rev. Scott Layer officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to services. Family and friends will gather at 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning at Farrar Funeral Home to proceed to Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service with military honors.
