Bobbie Lee Gibson (Miller) DeRidder of Knoxville died October 28, 2021. Born October 8, 1932 in Jefferson County she was the daughter of Haskel Ray Gibson and Susan Mae Fox Gibson. She was the wife of the late Albert Miller, Jr. and Dr. Lawrence DeRidder.
Bobbie graduated Maury High school in Dandridge in 1949 having served as class president. She graduated UT in 1953 with a bachelor degree in Business Administration, magna cum laude, member of Sigma Kappa sorority. Member of the Mortar Board honor society, Phi Kappa Phi initiate, member of Who’s Who In American Universities and Colleges and a member of the Beaver Pep club. She spent most of her professional life as a CPA, having passed the state exam in her first sitting, scoring the highest of any candidate to date. She enjoyed hiking, gardening, ballroom dancing, yoga, tai chi and various book clubs throughout her life.
She is preceded in death by three sisters, Raye Fox Gibson Himes, Helen Maude Gibson Foland, and Mary Jean Gibson Wolfe. Her son, Patrick Miller and stepson, Jason DeRidder.
Survived by her children, Jeff Miller and wife Vickie Miller of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, Michael Miller of Knoxville, Mary Miller of Athens, Tennessee. Step children; Mitchell Deridder, Dan DeRidder, Jody DeRidder, Kim DeRidder and Tamara DeRidder; grandchildren Buckley Miller and wife Shannon of Nashville, Courtney Stubley and husband Philip of Santa Rosa Beach, Shelby Miller of Santa Rosa Beach, David Miller and wife Colline of Chattanooga and Claire Dodson of Knoxville; great grandchildren Sullivan, Charlotte, Delaney and Beckett Stubley and Wilder, Everly and Hudson Miller; nephews Joe Wolfe, Jimmy Ozment and Jerry Ozment; nieces Carol Wolfe Taylor and Nancy Foland.
Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2020 at Hillcrest Cemetery. Memorial service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville.
