Billie Jean Layman

BILLIE JEAN LAYMAN, age 71, of Talbott, TN passed away at 6: 15 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2005 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Layman; father and mother, Fred and Helen Kelley. She graduated in the 2nd LPN class at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in 1967 and retired from Jefferson Memorial Hospital with 30 years of serviced. She was very active in Licensed Practical Nurses Association at local, state and national levels and held several offices including president. She was appointed by two Tennessee governors to serve three terms on the Tennessee State Board of Nursing. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Mark Perryman of Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law, David and Lisa Layman of New Market; grandchildren, Robbie and Andrew Layman of New Market, Kyle Caton of New Market; brother, Wayne Kelley of Shepherdsville, KY; sister, Denise Dockins of Bristol, VA; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2005 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Bales offaiciating. Family and friends will gather at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at the funeral home to proceed to Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service.
