Bettye Alain Underwood

BETTYE ALAIN UNDERWOOD, age 77, of Knoxville, TN passed away on April 19, 2009. She was a member of New Freedom Baptist Church in Blaine and was the president of Underwood Paving Company in Knoxville. She was also a long-time employee of EG & G Ortec in Oak Ridge. Preceded in death by parents, Theodore and Edith Roach; sons, Roger Sellars and Steve Underwood; brother, Franklin Roach. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, James R. (Speedy) Underwood; son, Jerry L. Sellars and wife, Kathy of Claxton; daughter, Sissy Lewis and husband Randall of Dothan, AL; grandchildren, Lisa and Scot Green of Oliver Springs; Bryan and Melissa Sellars, James and Christy Sellars, and Josh Sellars, all of Claxton, Randall, Jr. and Gatlin Lewis of Dothan, AL; great-grandchildren, Kinley, Cydney, Emery, Jacob, Adison and Avery. Funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009 from the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Pastor Lee Wayne Grubb and Pastor Vernon Heatherly officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning at the funeral home to proceed to Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
