Betty Jean Hickman

Betty Jean (Ramsey) Hickman of the Piedmont Community, New Market, TN passed away on June 22, 2024, after battling a lingering illness. She lived to be 85 of her goal of 86 years old. She had lived in New Mexico with her oldest daughter for the last 2 years. Betty is survived by her daughter, Debra (Hickman) Laney, granddaughters; Emily Hickman and Lyndsey Hickman great grandsons; Braydon Harris and Lance Hickman and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; Fred and Bertha Ramsey Hickman; Siblings; James Ramsey, Bobby Ramsey, Willie (Ramsey) Champ, Joyce (Ramsey) Denton, husband (William) Morris Hickman; children, Darren Hickman, Jamie (Hickman) Hicks, and beloved granddaughter Kristen Moody. Betty lived most of her life in the community of Piedmont located in New Market TN. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed going to the casino, horse races, and her early years of playing Bingo with friends. Her early life she worked for Levi Strauss Co. eventually retiring, for which she worked in the kitchen making delicious meals for Highlander Research and Education Center, where she eventually hung her apron for retirement. If strength could keep us alive, she would have lived forever. We are at peace knowing she has reunited with all those she lost and missed so dearly. She was a life-long member of Green Hill Missionary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge followed by an inurnment burial ceremony for Betty and her son, Darren at Piedmont Cemetery.
