Bertha Mae Lee Cox

BERTHA MAE “LEE” COX, age 83, of Talbott, TN went to be with Jesus on December 19, 2017. She was a devoted charter member of Lakeshore Road Baptist Church and was one of the directors who was instrumental in founding the church. She was a Sunday School teacher and was retired from J. C. Penney with over 30 years of service. She was an avid sports fan, loved UT sports, and was a faithful fan of all her children and grandchildren’s sports endeavors. Preceded in death by her husband, Harold D. Cox, Sr.; and parents, Lyle Franklin Lee and Narrah Greene Lee Sutherland. She is survived by her sons, Harold D. Cox, Jr. (Tammy), Joseph Charles (Joey) Cox, Jeffrey Scott Cox (Brenda), Mark Steven Cox (Holly), Michael Lee Cox (Becky); grandchildren, Jennifer, Christie, Brandon, Kayla, Zachary, Kelsey, Hayden, Abby, Bryce, Kendra and Katelyn; twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Jo Gilliam (Ron); brother, Larry Sutherland (Betty); and special pet, Cody. Funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Lakeshore Road Baptist Church (515 Lakeshore Road, Talbott, TN) with Rev. Jeff Harvel officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:30 p.m. prior to the service. Family and friends will gather at 10:00 a.m. Friday morning at Farrar Funeral Home to proceed to Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service.
