Benton R. Hammer

BENTON R. HAMMER, age 89 of Dandridge, TN passed away Monday evening, September 13, 2021, at the Life Care Center of Morristown. He was the son of the late Paul and Nellie (Trundle) Hammer and was preceded in death by his brothers Sammy and James Hammer. Benton enjoyed farming and was owner and operator of Hammer Trucking Co. He loved his family and being with friends and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Edna Wine Hammer; children, Gail (Mike) Woody and Mike (Teena) Hammer; grandchildren, Luke Troutman, Bradley (Brandi) Troutman, Savannah Hammer, Eli (Madeleine) Hammer, and Cole Hammer; several great-grandchildren; brother, Frances (Mary Sue) Hammer; several nieces and nephews and cousins. The family wishes to express special thanks to caregivers, Shelia Poe Richards and Ashley Avery and the staff of Life Care Center of Morristown and Avalon Hospice. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial gifts be made to your favorite charity. Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, 11:00am at Dandridge Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Kelly Reed officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge.
