Ben Luther Franklin, 84, of Dandridge passed away peacefully at his home on March 8, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert Luther Franklin and Lettie Thomas Franklin, siblings (and spouses) Quentin (Roxie) Franklin, Raymond (Elizabeth) Franklin, Keith (Katherine) Franklin, Mary Lee Webb (Richard), Thelma (Walter, Jr.) Lindsay, George Howard “Mouse” (Nancy) Franklin, brother-in-law Guy Manning, brothers/sisters-in-law Frances (Leon) Myers, Loy (MaLois) Bowman, Anna Lee (Bill) DeLozier, Douglass (Dixie) Bowman, several nieces and nephews. Ben is survived by his wife of 60 years Linda Ruth Bowman Franklin, children Gary Wayne (Teresa) Franklin and Teresa Franklin, grandchildren Benjamin and Ally Franklin and Darcey Hazel, special friends John Steven and Angela May, bonus grandchildren Dillan and Samantha May, brother Ralph (Libby) Franklin and sister Grace Manning, sisters-in-law Juanita Franklin and Wilma (N.A.) Allen, several nieces nephews and numerous special friends. Ben was a member of the Maury High School Class of 1958. He was a surveyor and land developer with Felknor Real Estate for over 40 years and was a co-owner of Dandridge Golf & Country Club and Patriot Hills Golf Club. Ben loved all University of Tennessee Volunteer sports, and he enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren and their friends play various sports through the years. Ben and Linda loved to travel and enjoyed visiting all 50 states and several countries. Ben was an avid golfer who made 10 holes in one and countless friends during his years on the links. The family will receive friends from 4-7 at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge on Monday, March 11 with the service to follow at 7 PM with Rev. Darrell Chambers and Rev. Kathy Waters Lafollette officiating. To honor the memory of Ben, you may choose to wear golf apparel. The family will gather at Grant’s Chapel Cemetery at 10:45 for an 11 AM graveside service on Tuesday, March 12. The family wishes to thank Amedysis Home Health, Amedysis Hospice, and Jefferson Park for their excellent care of Ben. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blue’s Backpacks, P.O. Box 693, Dandridge, TN 37725.
