Mrs. Humpston was born July 29, 1918 in Cocke County, TN to Carl and Minnie Freshour. In 1940, she married Fred Humpston, who died in 1987. She was a long time active member of Edwards Chapel United Methodist Church in White Pine. Preceded in death by brothers Dalphia, Curtis and Minnis Freshour. She is survived by son, Robert Humpston and wife, Linda of Johnson City; daughter, Wanda and husband, Joe Parks of Oak Ridge; granddaughters, Angela and husband, Richard Gabriel of Mt. Carmel, Robin and husband, Michael McClellan of Jonesborough; and great-grandchildren, Caleb and Chloe McClellan of Jonesborough; brother, Ardell Freshour of Newport and sisters-in-law, Helen Freshour of Midlothian, VA and Iris Dean Freshour of Newport; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Edwards Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Christine Bean, Reverend Ransom Hall and Reverend A. C. Cobble officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in White Pine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
