Barbara Jean Wilson

BARBARA J. WILSON, age 88, of Jefferson City, TN passed away peacefully on June 15, 2023 at her home surrounded by her children. She grew up in Portland, Maine and moved to Tennessee as a teenager. She graduated from Jefferson High School and attended East Tennessee State University. She was a life long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson City and retired from Magnavox/North American Phillips after many years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Marguerite Briggs; sister, Neilah Hopper; and brother, William Briggs, Jr. She is survived by her children, Sharon Martin (Ed), Brian Briggs, Leslie Vines (Jim); brother-in-law, Carl Hopper; grandchildren, Matthew and Nathan Martin, Dylan and Jacob Briggs, Jay, Caroline, Catherine and Jack Vines; several nieces and nephews, as well as dear friend, Jama Seahorn. The family expresses their gratitude to Smoky Mountain Hospice, Ashley, Felicia and Kayli for their exceptional care. Thanks to the staff and members of First Presbyterian Church and to the staff and teachers at Jefferson Elementary School for their love, support and kindness. There will be a Celebration of Life service at the First Presbyterian Church on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Glenda Hollingshead officiating.  A reception for family and friends will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church Street Café, Appalachian Ministries of the Smokies, or to a charity of your choice.
