Barbara Ann Piatt

Barbara Ann Piatt of Dandridge TN, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025 at home. Her early life was spent on a farm next to the Erie Canal in Pittsford, New York. From there, she moved to California and onward to Minnesota; where she met her soulmate, the love of her life, & her best friend, Fredrick. Together, they raised a family of seven children, numerous farm animals, and several pets.

Barbara spent her working career always being the best that she could be. At one point in her career, she was a proud structures mechanic, for the B1-B program and was part of aerospace family working on the Space Shuttle. In retirement, Barbara has spent the last 24 years at the foot of the Smoky Mountains in Dandridge. She loved looking out to the mountains and seeing wildlife in the pastures below. Barbara loved gardening, painting, and canning. After the canning season was over, her house became a Christmas bakery! Often times, she made 30 - 40 dozen cookies in a day, sharing them all with family, friends, & neighbors. Family and friends were always welcomed in her home; and she loved spending time with her visitors.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis Evershed & Doris C. Ledden; brother, James Evershed; and three children, Robert P. Piatt, Timothy M. Piatt, & Linda Jean Ludwig.

She is survived by her husband Fredrick Piatt; sons, Richard M. (Marie) Piatt and Frederick P. (Julie) Piatt; daughters, Joan Evert and Nancy (Barrett) Sylvies; sister, Lynn (Bob) Wilson; and brother Paul (Peggy) Evershed; sons-in-law, Mickey (Lyndsay) & Dave; daughters-in-law, Connie & Cheryl; 25 grandchildren and their respective spouses; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Rev. Darrell Chambers will officiate the funeral service, which will take place at 7PM Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge. Family will be receive friends from 5 to 7PM prior to the service. Interment is scheduled for 10AM Friday, April 25, 2025 at the Hillcrest Cemetery.
