She was born in Mississippi, and also lived in North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Alabama. She was a retired teacher from Rush Strong School, an active member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City, and an avid quilter. Preceded in death by parents, Hugh and Lola Collins; brothers, Charles and Felix Collins; sister, Carolyn Collins Young. She is survived by her husband, David Young of Jefferson City; daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Jack Wolfe of Talbott, Susan and Rick Willings of Jefferson City; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at First Baptist Church of Jefferson City with Dr. Gene Wilder and Dr. Robert Sherden officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be private at a later date in Westview Cemetery.
