Broadway Blvd. Jefferson City, TN 37760 Phone (865)475-3892 Fax (865)475-9916 OBITUARY: BARBARA CHAVIS CALDWELL WILKINSON, of Jefferson City, Tennessee died Thursday, June 17, 2004. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Willie Lindley Chavis; her first husband, Vernon Caldwell; and son, Guy Wilkinson. Barbara attended the Jefferson City schools and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Carson-Newman College. She received her Master of Arts degree in Teaching from Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She taught at the Dorman High School and Spartanburg Junior College in South Carolina. She returned to Jefferson City, where she was a much-loved science teacher at Jefferson High School, and as well continuing to teach, she was Head of the Science Department at Jefferson County High School in Dandridge, TN for over 21 years. She was a member of the San Souci Club, Les Aimes, Monday Literary Club, and Jefferson County Retired Teachers, as well as numerous professional organizations. She was an active member of the All Saints? Episcopal Church in Morristown, where she faithfully served in many capacities. Barbara was always dependable, as well as kind, thoughtful, loving and generous to all. She is survived by her husband, Paul Wilkinson; her daughter, Alison Caldwell Houston, and son-in-law, Patrick Houston of Cosby; sons, Paul Wilkinson, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Myrna of Florida and Jack Wilkinson of North Carolina; grandchildren, Lindley, Megan and Caleb Houston; Ashley Wilkinson; Yvonne Wilkinson King, Yvette Wilkinson Grant, Paul Wilkinson III, Jacqueline and David Wilkinson; and honorary grandchild, Hannah Gray; great grandchildren, Ryan and Phillip Tipton; Braelyn and Brooklyn Grant, and Madilyn Wilkinson; sisters, Martha Nelle Chavis Arbin and Carolyn Chavis Barclay from Morristown; two brothers, Charles Chavis of Memphis and Don Chavis of Kentucky; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and countless wonderful friends, many of whom were former students. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 20, 2004 at All Saints? Episcopal Church, 601 W. Main Street, in Morristown. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. The family will also receive friends from 7:00 until 9 p.m. Saturday evening, June 19, 2004 at the home of the Wilkinsons, 1714 Russell Avenue, Jefferson City, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Science or Drama Departments, Jefferson County High, 115 W. Dumplin Valley Road, Dandridge, TN 37725, to the attention of Jennifer Moore.
