June Borum, age 77, of Athens, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2019. She was retired from South Central Bell and AT&T after 30 years of service and a very active member of Telephone Pioneers. After her retirement, June volunteered and donated to many different organizations in McMinn County because she loved people. Two of her favorite local organizations she volunteered faithfully with were Friendly Fellows Food Baskets and signing up new voters during voter registration. But June will be best known for her smile and friendliness to patrons who came to eat at the Gondolier Restaurant. For the last 30 years, she has been a regular during lunch and supper with a table reserved by the door.
June was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Cora Roach Snider; husband of 54 years, Robert “Bob” Borum; son, Scott Borum; brothers, Charles Edward and Kenneth Howard Snider; sisters, Hazel Ison and Elizabeth “Liz” Smith.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Joshua Borum of Windfall, IN, Sarah (Nick) Begley of Tipton, IN and Abby Borum (Jon Munns) of Leigh High, FL; great grandchildren, Collin and Gavin Begley of Tipton, IN and Jentry, Keelan and Ellie Munns of Leigh High, FL; twin brother, Robert “Bob”(Sandra) Snider of Cleveland, TN; sister in-law, Bertha Snider of Athens, nephews; Steve (Tracy) Riden of Lenoir City, Pat (Susan) Smith of Athens and Phillip (Vanessa) Smith of Atlanta, GA; nieces, Jean (John) Tarpley of Gatlinburg, Susan (Mark) Evans of Delano, Barbie (Terry) Martin of Athens and special niece that she thought of as a daughter, Anne (Damon) Cotter of Athens.
