OBITUARY:
ANNA HAMILTON QUARLES, age 106, passed away at her home on December 8, 2004. She and her husband, Frank Quarles, former sheriff of Jefferson County, Tennessee, legislator, and U. S. Marshall, shared a life and love of Jefferson County. She was a faithful member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church and the senior group of Alpha Baptist Church. She was a gentle, loving lady who lived life to the fullest and was a joy to all those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mollie McCrary Hamilton Noe and Joseph Hamilton; husband, Frank Quarles; sons, Wiley and Glenn Quarles; son and daughter-in-law, Foy and Willie Mae Quarles; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen Quarles and Charlie Hardy; son-in-law, Dr. John W. Ellis; grandsons, Dale Quarles, Jonathan Quarles, and Frank Lynn Hardy; granddaughters, Mary Charles Hardy Herndon and Carol Myers. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Jo Quarles; daughters and sons-in-law, Georgia and Bill Myers, Wylene and Maurice Hatcher, and daughter, Carolyn Quarles Ellis. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, and fourteen great, great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also blessed with many loving and caring friends. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2004 from the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Reverend Robert Schooley and Reverend John Wells officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2004 at the funeral home to proceed to Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. In lieu of flowers, the family request that remembrances be made to Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church or Alpha Baptist Church.
