Anna Lee Cameron Underwood – age 96, Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 15, 2017. Preceded into Eternal Life by husband and love of her life, John Arnold Underwood; parents, Bert and Ora Cameron; sisters and brothers-in-law Agnes Cameron Watson and Leo Watson, Knoxville; and Jean Cameron Hodge and Roy E. Hodge, Rutledge. Survived by daughter Susan Arnette Underwood, several nieces and nephews.
Anna Lee was manager of Smithwood School cafeteria and later at Karns cafeterias. She taught commercial foods at the vocational schools in Inskip and on Liberty Street. She and husband John operated Underwood Ceramics, where she taught a few classes, and they both enjoyed the company of friends, neither of them ever meeting a stranger. She loved life, cooking, flowers, ceramics, and had a passion to get better at casting and painting porcelain. She always had a smile at the ready to share. She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City.
Special thanks to niece Sandra Hodge Combs of Rutledge for countless miles traveled to ensure that the sisters could remain close after their ability to travel was diminished. A heartfelt thank you to Margie Welch, confidant and caregiver extraordinaire for years during which she became family. Special thanks to nephews John Tindell and Mark Wilkinson for facilitating her bird watching. And special thanks to staff of Summit Medical Group and Tennova Home Health and Hospice for their tender care.
