MARYVILLE, TN Amy Cox (Collins) Macdougall, 65, died unexpectedly at home on December 26, 2017. She was born on January 24, 1952, in Knoxville, TN, the daughter of Alger Cox and Ruth Cox Lamberton.
Amy graduated from Jefferson High School (Jefferson City, TN), Class of 1970, where she was an honor student, Drama Club President and participant in regional vocal competitions. Although offered a scholarship to study at The Julliard School in NY, Amy chose to remain closer to her Jefferson City home and family, and subsequently graduated with a B.A in English from Carson Newman College (now University). Following college, Amy was a cast member at The Land of Oz theme park in NC, assuming the role of Glinda the Good Witch. In addition to writing several published short stories and poems, Amy also authored four unpublished novels, including the poignantly titled Home Again, Home Again.
In addition to her parents, Amy was predeceased by her son, Isaac Collins, and her sister, Linda Ruth Cox Combs. Surviving Amy are her daughters Katie (Collins) Pitts and her husband, Mike, of Knoxville, and Mika (Collins) Presley of Maryville; five grandchildren: Madison and Sophia Presley, and Savannah, Gabe, and Corbin Pitts; one sister Angel Cox, of Maryville, and one brother, Tony Cox, of Knoxville.
Amy was a beautiful, talented, gentle Child of God who will be missed by her family and her many friends. A Celebration of Amy's Life will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at Ball Camp Baptist Church, 2412 Ball Camp Byington Rd., Knoxville, TN 37931
