She was the oldest member of First Baptist Church of Strawberry Plains, TN and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Alverta was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 56 years, J. Judson Davis; an infant daughter, Justine; and a son-in-law, John Bruce Snodderly; four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, F. M. and Gerry Davis of Strawberry Plains; daughter, Annette Snodderly of Strawberry Plains; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Robert Baker of Dandridge, Phyllis Sue and David Bates of Nashville; four grandchildren, Joseph Davis, Becky Baxter, Mark and Scott Baker; eleven great grandchildren, Jonathan, Anna, Caleb, Ethan and Esther Davis, Leslie, Amy and Callie Baxter, Ryan and Nick Baker and Isabelle Grace Baker; brother, E. Ralph Grubb of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews. Special appreciation is extended to the three devoted care givers and the caring staff of Unit 2, Life Care Center of Jefferson City, TN. Funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 22, 2004 from the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Michael Boatfield and Reverend Henry Davidson officiating. Family and friends will gather at Evergreen Memorial Gardens on Saturday, October 23, 2004 for a 10:00 a.m. graveside interment service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
