Alice Dollar of Dandridge, TN went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Monday, November 18th. Alice was born on September 19, 1946, in Knoxville.
She had a magnificent life and the opportunity to travel the world with her husband, Buddy. Her greatest joys were spending time with relatives and friends at the “family compound” on Douglas Lake.
Alice attended Knoxville East High School and graduated from the University of Tennessee. She had a distinguished career with the Knox County Schools as an elementary teacher, receiving the Presidential Teacher of the Year Award in 1993. She retired from the Knoxville News-Sentinel where she served as the Newspapers in Education Manager.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ruby Wright; her loving husband of 51 years, Marion (Buddy) Dollar; and brothers, Jimmy and Norman Wright.
She is survived by her son, Brian Dollar; daughter, Alison Ragsdale (Mike); sister, Linda Wright; sisters-in-law Marie Winn (Richard), Masako Wright, and Judy Wright; grandchildren, Ruby Kate Wagley, Annie Wagley, and David Ragsdale; and many special nieces and nephews.
Alice shaped many lives by showing us how to give generously, love fiercely, and value a sense of humor! Her humor and smile, through all the pain, were her most valuable lessons. She will be terribly missed by her loving basset hound, Nora Mae, who was constantly by her side. The family extends great appreciation to the many caregivers who assisted Alice during her illness.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, make someone laugh, hug a friend, and call your Mom.
Farrar Funeral Home of Dandridge is honored to serve the family.
