Albert Leon Underwood

Albert “Leon” Underwood, Sr. went to be with his heavenly Father on August 30, 2013 after he fought a courageous battle with cancer. A member of New Beginnings Baptist Church. Leon was the former owner/operator of Lakeview Market & Deli in Jefferson City, TN. Leon was a loving and devoted Husband , Daddy and Papaw. Preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Frank Lewelling, and loving son-in-law, Mark Reed. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Diana; loving and devoted daughters, Pam Chesney [Tim], and Angie Reed, both of Knoxville, Lori Penton of Lenoir City; and a wonderful and devoted son, Leon, Jr., “Bub”, and loving and devoted daughter-in-law, Mona Underwood; grandchildren, Josh Toney, Tyler Simpson, Jacob & Malynn Penton, Madison & Alli Reed; and great-grandchildren, Landon & Rylan Toney; brother and sister-in-law, Robert & Brenda Lewelling. Leon touched many lives and has made many lasting and loving friendships. He has a wonderful church family whom he loved. Leon will be sadly missed by everyone that knew him. Funeral services 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City with Rev. Danny Neal and Rev. Theo Messer officiating. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. prior to funeral services. Family and friends will gather Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Farrar Funeral Home to proceed to Eastview Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment. Palllbearers will be Rob Turley, Roland Holt, Scott & Aaron Winstead, Brad Witt and Paul Atkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Craig Laman, Jim Pilant, Dennis Burchell and Howard Rose. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to New Beginnings Baptist Church, c/o Clyde Nelson Arnold, 1601 Osborne Road, Knoxville, TN 37914.
