Aileen "Aunt Lee" Allen Penland

AILEEN "AUNT LEE" ALLEN PENLAND, daughter of the late Floyd and Katie Hammer Allen, passed away Monday, October 6, 2008 at her home in White Pine, TN at the age of 99. Aileen retired from Appalachian Electric Cooperative and was a life long farmer on her beloved Allen family farm. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Penland; sister, Marjorie Allen Clarke and husband, Shelton; and sister, Louise Allen Seahorn and husband, Frank. She is survived by niece, Linda Clarke Welch and great nephew, Allen Welch (wife, Lisa and children, Laura, Jonathan and Nicholas) who looked after her. She is also survived by her special care-giver, Mildred Kinsler and special cousin, Mary Deane Shugart. Other survivors include niece, Katherine (Keith) Quarles of Jefferson City and nephew, Bill (Arlene) Seahorn of New Carlisle, Ohio; brother-in-law, Robert (Nannie) Penland and sister-in-law, Mabel Penland and several other great and great-great nieces and nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank CNA Jamye Branner; nurse, Bridgett Thompson; chaplain, Michael Sledge; and all the staff of Smoky Mountain Hospice for their excellent care and kindness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at Seahorn's Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Price, Rev. Michael Sledge and Rev. John Thompson officiating. Friends may call at her home at 1519 C. H. Rankin Road, White Pine, TN. Memorial donations may be made to the Seahorn's Chapel Cemetery Fund, 2028 Oak Grove Road, Dandridge, TN 37725.
