James "Jim" Lewis Baumgardner

Dr. James "Jim" Lewis Baumgardner, age 77, of Talbott, TN passed away suddenly Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. The Carson-Newman family mourns the loss of Dr. Baumgardner in what would have been his fifty second teaching year at Carson-Newman. He was the longest tenured professor and was the recipient of many honors and awards. Jim was also the pastor at Pond Grove in Rockwood, TN. He is survived by brothers, children, and grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Baptist in Jefferson City on Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. with the service at 7:00 p.m. The family request in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of Dr. James Baumgardner to Carson-Newman University, PO Box 529, Jefferson City, TN 37760 or Lupus Research Institute, 330 Seventh Ave, Ste 1701, New York, NY 10001.
